OBITUARY

J. S. HEARLD (sic - HERROLD)

J. S. HEARLD, youngest child of Jno. and Susan HEAR D (sic), was born in Washington Co. Iowa Aug. 15, 1863, died in the hospital at Fairfield Sept. 1, 1932, age 69 years and 16 days. He was the son of religious parents, who were members of the M. E. Church surrounded by such environment he grew to manhood, and had great respect for the cause. He lived a single life residing in the neighborhood with his only sister for 50 years.

A year ago he began to fail in health and about two weeks ago was taken to the hospital for care after a week of intense suffering he passed from earthly life.

Mr. HEARLY (sic) was very generous man, his home was always open to the unfortunate who were welcome as long as they stayed. He reveled in song being the chior (sic) leader in the neighborhood church for years A man fully in controll (sic) of his temper, never known to be angry, never upset. He leaves a lone sister, Minerva the last surviver (sic) of a large family besides Mrs. May WILSON, his niece who made her home with him, other nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the home in Jefferson Co., conducted by Rev. F. M. James of Birmingham, using his text: "For I reckon the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us.' Romans 8, 18. Three songs were sung by Mrs. Glen Williams and Mrs. Sanley Watts, Mrs. Frank Daily pianist. Interment was in the Wright cemetery on the Jefferson Co. line road.
