DEATH TAKES OREN FRY, 91

Death came Saturday night to one of Jefferson county's oldest residents. He is Oren Lewis FRY, 91, well known retired farmer who had lived his entire life in Cedar township.

Mr. FRY passed away at 6 p.m. at the home of his son, Hubert FRY, who resides about eight miles southeast of Fairfield in the Wooster community.

Mr. FRY had celebrated his birthday the day before. He had been in his usual health until about two weeks ago when he complained of not feeling well. He went to the field Saturday afternoon where his son was sowing oats. After he returned to the house he lay down to rest and passed away.

Last rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in the Wright cemetery.

Oren Lewis FRY was born April 8, 1843 (sic - 1858), in Cedar township, the community where he spent his entire life. He was the son of the late David and Harriett FORDYCE FRY.

On December 25, 1883, he was united in marriage to Belle PARKS who preceded him in death on October 4, 1941. He was a farmer all his life until his retirement.

Mr. FRY is survived by one son, Hubert FRY, Fairfield; a granddaughter, Mrs. Verna JARVIS, Washington, Iowa; four great grandchildren; and a brother, S. W. FRY, who is 88 years of age.
