The death of Mrs. Lydia SMITH occurred at her home in Round Prairie township on the 27th inst, in the 81st year of her age. Her husband, Newby (sic - Nuby) SMITH, died in 1875. They moved to Jefferson county in 1842 and lived here until death called them. Four children were born to them -- three sons and one daughter. The sons are all living. The daughter was the first wife of Allen KING of our city. Mrs. SMITH had been a great sufferer for several years. About four years ago she was stricken with paralysis, and has been bedfast most of the time since. She was a good wife, a loving mother and a kind neighbor. Her remains were interred Thursday by the side of her husband.
