Page 3, Column 4The death of Mrs. Lydia SMITH occurred at her home in Round Prairie township on the 27th inst, in the 81st year of her age. Her husband, Newby (sic - Nuby) SMITH, died in 1875. They moved to Jefferson county in 1842 and lived here until death called them. Four children were born to them -- three sons and one daughter. The sons are all living. The daughter was the first wife of Allen KING of our city. Mrs. SMITH had been a great sufferer for several years. About four years ago she was stricken with paralysis, and has been bedfast most of the time since. She was a good wife, a loving mother and a kind neighbor. Her remains were interred Thursday by the side of her husband.
