KEOSAUQUA, Ia. -- Mrs. Sam SWARTZ, 83, former resident of Van Buren county, died Saturday night in her sleep at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul KLINE, at Silver Springs, Md.
The body is being returned to the Burnett-Catcott funeral home in Keosauqua. Last rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Center Chapel Methodist church with the Rev. E. S. Tschetter in charge. Burial will be in the Winsell cemetery near Selma.
Mrs. Sam SWARTZ was born near Libertyville on May 27, 1878, the daughter of Henry and Sarah TROUT SCHWARTZ. She was married May 12, 1897, to Sam SWARTZ of Libertyville. They farmed in Jefferson county for a few years then moved to Van Buren county. He preceded his wife in death on Sept. 30, 1959. Mrs. SWARTZ was a member of the Methodist church.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence SWARTZ, Marshalltown, and Vernon SWARTZ, Bonaparte; and a daughter, Mrs. KLINE who resides in Silver Springs, Md. Other survivors include four brothers, George SCHWARTZ, Libertyville; Abe SCHWARTZ, Winfield; Grover SCHWARTZ, Buffalo, Iowa; and Alva SCHWARTZ, Wichita, Kansas; also two sisters, Mrs. Frank HOFFMAN, Fairfield, and Mrs. Hattie CARTER, Libertyville; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
