OBITUARY

Allie ASHMEAD CRAWFORD

Allie L. ASHMEAD CRAWFORD was born in Des Moines Twp., Jefferson county, Iowa, November 2, 1861 and departed this life at her home in Libertyville, November 7, 1930, age 69 years and 5 days. On November 2, 1880, she married Wm. Reed CRAWFORD to this union three sons were born, the oldest, Perry, dying in infancy. Floyd A. died in 1926. When a young girl, she was converted and united with the M. P. church at Winsel Chapel. Later she united with the M. E. church. She has ever lived an earnest Christian life, ever ready to help a friend or neighbor. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, Reed CRAWFORD, son Hiram CRAWFORD of Burlington, sister Anna ASHMEAD and brother Preston ASHMEAD of Ottumwa, two grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. All her life with the exception of three years residence in Douds Leando has been spent in and near Libertyville. Mrs. CRAWFORD has suffered for several years, at such times she was tenderly cared for by her loving husband and faithful sister Anna. On Nov. 2, Mr. and Mrs. CRAWFORD observed their Golden Weding (sic), by inviting a few relatives. Mrs. CRAWFORD baked a large Brides Cake by the same receipt (sic) she had baked her bridal cake fifty years before. In speaking of it that day she made this remark: When I gave my hand to Reed fifty years ago today, I said I would go to the ends of the world with him and I have never changed my mind. On that day she was taken sick, from which she rapidly grew worse. Loving hands did all that could be done. Allie was conscious to the last striving to comfort her loved ones sending loving words to the absent. About nine thirty o'clock she seemed to look past us, beyond us, and her life work was ended.

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Geo. Barber of Eldon a former pastor in charge. Mrs. T. J. Moss and Mrs. Purl Armstrong sang three beautiful and comforting selections. Burial was in the Winsell Cemetery. The pall bearers were Mr. and Mrs. Ben ASHMEAD, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rowdson and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bishop, undertakers, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Campbell.
