… Ella Elizabeth MORRISON was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, December 5, 1839, and departed this life at her home in Libertyville, March 23, 1923, aged 83 years, three months and eighteen days.

She was united in marriage to Hiram ASHMEAD on July 18, 1858. He having preceded her in death on July 16, 1918. To this union were born four children, three of whom survive: Anna ASHMEAD and Mrs. Allie CRAWFORD, of Libertyville, and Preston ASHMEAD, of Ottumwa; one son passed away in infancy. Also twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. ASHMEAD was loved by all who knew her. She was a loving and affectionate mother and a kind neighbor, and will be missed by all. She had been enjoying ordinary health for one of her age, but took suddenly ill Wednesday afternoon and passed away on Friday, March 23, at 1:30 p.m.

Sister ASHMEAD has been a resident of Libertyville for the past twenty-two years, coming here with her husband from the Mt. Zion neighborhood, where she had formerly resided. She was a member of the Winsell chapel Methodist church, and was a faithful Christian character with a loving word and a pleasant smile for all.

Funeral services were held from the home Sunday at 10:30 a.m., March 25, conducted by Rev. Pritchard, pastor of the M. E. church. Burial at the Winsell cemetery, near Mt. Zion.
