Samuel MACY was born in Hamilton county, Ind., March 6th, 1840. He came to Iowa with his parents when sixteen years of age and has since resided in this immediate community.
He was married to Rebecca PAXTON (sic - PAXSON) June 15, 1861. To this union were born nine children five of whom are living and were with him in his last illness. His wife passed away four years ago and since that time his widowed daughter Mrs. HAMILTON, has kept house for him, thus permitting him to spend his last days in the old home.
He was of a very quiet nature, not taking much part in the public life, but always enjoyed seeing his neighbors and friends in his home. He had been quite a sufferer for several years but was always patient, and in his last illness expressed himself willing to go or stay.
He departed this life March 18th, 1915, being 75 years and 12 days old.
