May 06, 2005Orville L. Denney, 77, of 309 W. Madison Ave., died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Nelson Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Stephen Page officiating. Burial will be at a later date. The body has been donated to science.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to the Nelson Nursing Home Van Fund.
Mr. Denney was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Fairfield, the son of Jesse and Eunice Goepel Denney. He married Marie Pohren Nov. 4, 1950, in Fairfield.
He lived most of his life in the Fairfield community, graduating from Fairfield High School.
He was a United States veteran, serving in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Denney was a supervisor at Tenco.
He was a parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 47.
Survivors include his wife of Fairfield; two sons, John Denney of California, Paul Denney of Minnesota and Mike Denney of Minnesota; two daughters, Mary Evans of Fairfield and Maggie Holm of Ottumwa; one sister, Letha Woolverton of Shenandoah, three brothers, Clarence Denney of Fairfield, Lawrence Denney of Davenport and Robert Denney of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Denney; and three grandchildren.
