ABRAM FRAKES, WAR VETERAN; IS SUMMONED
Passed Away at Soldiers' Home in Marshalltown Yesterday

Abram FRAKES, civil war veteran, passed away at the Old Soldiers' Home in Marshalltown yesterday following a brief illness (note: in Marshall Co., IA). The body will be brought to the Hoskins Funeral Home tomorrow. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Burial will take place in Walnut cemetery, north of Perlee.

Mr. FRAKES would have been 94 years of age April 10, 1932. He was a member of 17th Iowa Regiment during the Civil war.

For a number of years he was a prominent farmer near Perlee later moving to Winchester. From Winchester he moved to Fairfield and since that time, until eight months ago, he had resided in this city. The last several months he has made his home in the Iowa Soldiers' Home at Marshalltown.

Mr. FRAKES was preceded in death by his wife. He is survived by the following children: William, Sam and James FRAKES of Fairfield; Grant of Lancaster, Calif.; Mrs. Anna KUNCE of Davenport and Mrs. Myrtle HAGEN of Fairfield,

FRAKES SERVICES TOMORROW MORNING AT FUNERAL HOME

Funeral services for Abram FRAKES, Civil War veteran who passed away at the Old Soldiers' Home in Marshalltown, Monday, will be held tomorrow morning at eleven o'clock from the Hoskins Funeral Home.

Rev. S. P. Williamson of the First Christian church will officiate at the last rites. Interment will take place in the Walnut cemetery near Pleasant Plain.

--Mr. and Mrs. Frank PIATT and sons of Washington, were here for the funeral of their grandfather Abram FRAKES.

OBITUARY

ABRAM FRAKES

Abram FRAKES was born April 10, 1838, and passed away at Marshalltown Iowa Soldiers Home on March 28, 1932.

Had he lived until the 10th of April, he would have been 94 years of age. He was a member of the 17th Iowa Infantry, Company D. He was taken prisoner to Andersonville prison where the served six months at Litton, Ga., and was then mustered out at the close of the war, April 15, 1865, at Davenport, Iowa.

He was married to Victoria A. SIMPSON, October 11, 1865. She preceded him in death, May 1, 1914. To this union were born nine children: Viola E., Allen, and Rachel, deceased; Grant of Lancaster, Cal; James, Samuel and Mrs. John HAGANS of Fairfield and Mrs. Anna KUNCE of Davenport, Iowa.

He was also survived by 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The early part of his life was spent near Pleasant Plain, then later at Birmingham, Iowa, and then to Fairfield. He was a member of the Friends church of the Walnut community and was also a member of the G. A. R. of Fairfield.

Funeral services were held at the Hoskins Funeral Home and were conducted by Rev. Williamson. Interment was in the Walnut cemetery near Perlee. Pallbearers were Samuel, Chester and Joe FRAKES, Verle and John HAGANS and Irvin KUNCE.

We wish to express our sincere appreciation for the kindness shown us during the death of our father Abram FRAKES. We wish to thank the singers for their beautiful songs, also Rev. Williamson and the K. of P. lodge, and the many friends and neighbors for the beautiful floral offerings. And we also wish to extend our thanks to Everett Coffin and the rest who assisted at the cemetery.
