Died at the residence of John Pickerring last Tuesday morning, John ELMORE, Sr., in his 79th year. He was sitting in his chair when he dropped to the floor dead. It was a very sad affair and he will be missed by his many relatives and friends.

OBITUARY.

John L. ELMORE was born in Rockingham county, N. C., Sept. 5, 1823, and died May 5, 1902; aged 78 years, 6 months and 2 days. At the age of seven years he moved with his parents to East Tennessee, and in after years married Elizabeth PIERCE. To them were born six children, four of whom survive him. In early life he was converted and united with the Baptist church of which he was still a member. He came to Iowa in the year 1887, making his home here since until his death. Funeral was held from Walnut church Wednesday, May 7th, conducted by Rev. J. S. Nicholson.
