HEART FAILURE TAKES WELL KNOWN MAN.
Was Building Kitchen Fire When Attack Came--Leaves Wife and Five Grown Children--Funeral Monday.Robert LYNN, aged 71 years, a long time resident of the county and city, died suddenly Saturday morning at his home on North Main street. Heart failure was the cause of demise. He leaves a wife and five children. The funeral was held from the residence Monday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. W. Montgomery of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in Richwoods cemetery, northwest of town.
Robert D. LYNN was born in the state of Pennsylvania October 6, 1840. In the early years of his life he came to Iowa and settled with his parents in Jefferson county. In this vicinity he has made his home all the later years of his life.
He was married December 26, 1868, to Jennie GORDON and to this union seven children were born, five of whom with the mother, remain to mourn the loss of a good father and a kind husband.
The children are: Mrs. Elizabeth E. MESSER, Libertyville; Mrs. Mary R. HENDRICKS, Pleasant Plain; Ross R. LYNN, Weldon; D. Russell LYNN, Burlington; Clarence C. LYNN, of Fairfield, who was at home when the father passed away. One daughter, Mrs. Margaret McCULLEY, preceded the father in death about ten years.
Mr. LYNN had not been seriously ill previous to his death. He had been going about attending to his ordinary duties. Last Saturday morning he arose as usual and was attending to the morning chores and getting ready for the duties of the day when he was suddenly stricken down. The members of the family ran to his assistance but death was almost instant.
Mr. LYNN was not only a man that was highly respected by those who knew him, but he was regarded as a true and sincere Christian. Those who were the most closely associated with him had the highest regard for his faithfulness, his honesty, his integrity, and his devotion to duty. He was a man of quiet manner, humble spirit and contented mind. God gave him a place to fill and a work to do in the world and he filled that place and did that work as God gave him help and strength to do it. He united with the Presbyterian church of Salina nearly 40 years ago. About twelve years ago he moved to Fairfield and at the time of his death was a member of the Presbyterian church of this city. Surely he heard the Master say as he entered into glory, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of thy Lord."
Mr. LYNN also leaves to mourn his loss two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Wm. KYLE and Jasper LYNN, both of Pleasant Plain, and Mrs. H. S. ANGSTEAD, of this city.
Mr. LYNN was very well known to people over the entire county and especially well in the city, owing to the fact that he has been in charge of the chautauqua grounds for a number of years, during the assemblies, and came in daily association during those times with hundreds of chautauqua patrons.

The death of Robert LYNN last Saturday morning was a surprise to all, and came to the family without a moment's warning.
We had known Robert a long time and when we heard of his death we said, we never heard of anyone having a harmful word to say of Robert LYNN. He was ready when called to go.
He was born in Pennsylvania October 6th 1840 and in early life came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John LYNN, to this county.
He was married to Jennie GORDON December 26th 1868 and lived on a farm in Penn township until a few years ago he moved to this city. They had seven children born to them. Five with the mother survive him.
He untied with the Presbyterian church in Salina, in early life and was true to what he professed to be.
