Merle, a six years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. HENDRICKS, was drowned in Rocky Branch, about nine miles northeast of this city Saturday. His parents were spending the day at the home of George Messer, and the little boy and some other children accompanied a party of threshers to see the stream, which had been swollen by recent rains. When the men returned to the house the little fellow was not with them, and it was feared that he had fallen into the water. A search was at once instituted and his body was found about an hour later nearly a mile away. Life was wholly extinct. The family will have the sympathies of many friends in the loss of this little son. The remains were interred in the Richwoods cemetery Monday, funeral services being conducted by Rev. Cochran of Salina.
