COUNTY CORRESPONDENCE.

DEATH OF J. H. HENDRICKS.

Editors Ledger:--James H. HENDRICKS died May 14th, 1891. Had he lived seven days he would have completed his eighty-first year. Mr. HENDRICKS was born on Morgan county, Virginia, where he spent his childhood and youth, and removed with his parents to Clark county, Ohio, where, in 1832, he married Miss E. K. AULT. Seven children were born to them, only one of whom, Wm. R. HENDRICKS of Penn township, is now living. Mr. HENDRICKS removed with his family to Johnson county, this state, in 1851, but the following year he came to this county, which has ever since been his home. After the death of his first wife he married Mrs. Emily J. GREEN, with whom he lived a happy wedded life of twenty-four years, so much endearing himself in his new home that no father was ever more loved or revered. When a youth he became deeply interested in religion and was made an exhorter in the Methodist church previous to his first marriage, and to the day of his death he held official relations in the church. Bro. S. Horton, assisted by Revs. Carson and Sampson, conducted the funeral services in Parsonsville church. The crowded house testified the love and esteem in which he was held by neighbors. Rev. Horton said his life is described in the text: "I count all but loss * * * that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection * * *." Certainly there never was a more single-minded, blameless life, and its memory is a benediction to all who knew him. The remains were interred in the Richwoods cemetery.
