OBITUARY. JOSEPH M. ACHESON. -- Joseph McKnight ACHESON, whose death in this city the 21st, we briefly noted last week, was the son of Hon. Alexander W. and Mrs. Jane WISHART ACHESON, of Washington, Pa. He was born in Washington, April 22, 1848. His early life was spent in his native town, where he also received his academical and professional training. After graduation from Washington and Jefferson college in 1869, he entered upon the study of law in the office of his father, then judge of Washington and Beaver counties. On his admission to the bar in 1871 he removed to Pittsburg and settled there in the practice of his profession. While a student he made the acquaintance of Miss Alice CAMPBELL, daughter of Hon. Edw. CAMPBELL, and in 1873 after the removal of her father's family to Iowa, Mr. ACHESON and Miss CAMPBELL were married, and returnd (sic) to Pittsburg to make their home. Mr. ACHESON continued in the practice of his profession until a few months since when he was compelled by failing health to lay aside all work. His health not recovering in Pittsburg, he yielded to the persuasion of friends to come to Iowa with the hope that the change might be beneficial. But this was not to be. He continued to decline almost from his arrival until the evening of Oct. 21, when he passed away. Mr. ACHESON was a man of marked ability, and though still young had won special distinction at the bar. He leaves a wife (sic - Alice CAMPBELL ACHESON) and one child, a daughter nearly grown.

The funeral services, which were both beautiful and impressive, were conducted by Rev. J. R. Wilson.
