Death of Mrs. L. C. EDWARDS.

On Saturday, February 17th, at 10 a.m., occurred the death of Mrs. EDWARDS, wife of L. C. EDWARDS, near Salina. Mrs. EDWARDS had not been in good health since Christmas. On Friday before her death she said she felt better and on the morning of her death she washed herself, combed her hair and ate some breakfast. Mr. EDWARDS went to Salina to see the doctor about her. Her daughters were doing up the housework. Her youngest daughter, in the room with the mother, heard her make a noise, looked around at her, and called to her sisters, and the son who was out doors heard his sisters, ran into the house to find his mother dying.

Mrs. EDWARDS was born in Washington county, Penn., Jan. 12, 1836; came to Iowa with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. MONTGOMERY, in 1855, and was married to Mr. L. C. EDWARDS; Nov. 27, 1857. To them were born eleven children, five who died while young, six who are living, as follows: Mrs. VALE, who lives in Wayne county; Mrs. HOSKINS, who lives in Fairfield, Iowa, is their second daughter and was formerly clerk in the Demarsh store and postoffice at Perlee; Emry, Bertha and Ice, who are at home. Her mother, who is in her eighty-ninth year, lives in Wayne county. She has two brothers living and one dead, one sister in Pennsylvania and one in Kansas, one in Wayne county and two dead. Her father died some years ago.

Mrs. EDWARDS has all the qualities that made her a good wife, a kind mother, and a good obliging neighbor. She was a member of the M. E. church and a good Christian woman, one who never talked hard of any one but always had a kind word for anyone. She always had a deep love for her family's good. While a lonely husband and sorrowing children mourn their loss they mourn not as those who have no hope.

The funeral was preached at her home on Monday at one p.m. by Rev. Jefferey. The remains were interred in the Upper Richwood's cemetery by the side of her little children who were waiting and watching on the other bright shore for their mother. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the neighbors and friends in their hour of deep affliction.

Our dear mother has gone from among us,
The Saviour has said to her, come
And be free from suffering and sorrow,
She is welcomed to her heavenly home.

Welcomed by angles and spirits,
Her mission on earth is o'er,
But we hope to meet her
On that bright and beautiful shore.

How sad and lonely is our home,
And as we in sorrow pine,
The loving Savior seems to say,
My love is stronger than thine.
