Mr. DYER Lived In Jefferson County 71 Years--Funeral ThursdayNimrod DYER, one of the pioneer settlers of Jefferson county, died this morning about 9:30 o'clock at his home on South Main street after an illness of only a week. His death was due to old age. Mr. DYER was one of the best known residents of the county.
Nimrod DYER was born in Indiana January 8, 1825, and five years later moved with his parents to Monmouth, Illinois, where they resided until 1839, when they came to Iowa, settling on :a (sic) farm in Buchanan township 4 1-2 miles north east of this city. Mr. DYER was married on November 14, 1850, to Miss Elizabeth TRAVIS, the wedding taking place at the home of the bride, five miles north of this city. For over fifty years Mr. and Mrs. DYER resided in this same community, and about eight years ago retired from active labors and moved to this city to spend the remaining days of their lives.
Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. DYER, of whom two daughters died in early childhood. The remaining five children are Mrs. Luella COOK of Macon, Mo.; Mrs. Sadie LOE of Stuttgart, Ark.; Claude of Denver, Col.; Mrs. Winnie ROBERTS, who resides ten miles north of this city; and I. W. DYER, residing 4 1-2 miles northeast of this city. The aged wife also survives Mr. DYER.
No arrangements have yet been made for the funeral but it will probably be held Thursday. The interment will take place in the Richwoods cemetery.

Page 3, Column 1... --The funeral of the late Nimrod DYER will be held Friday afternoon at one o'clock at the residence on South Main street and the remains will be taken to the upper Richwoods cemetery for interrment (sic). A daughter will arrive this evening and a number of relatives from a distance are allready (sic) here.

Died Tuesday morning at his home on South Main street after a week's illness, death resulting from old age. He was born in Indiana Jan. 8, 1825, and when about five years of age his parents moved to a farm near Monmouth, Ill. In 1839 they came to Jefferson County and settled on a farm northeast of town.
Nov. 14, 1850, Mr. DYER was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth TRAVIS. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. DYER, five of them survive. They are: Mrs. Sadie LOE of Stuttgart, Ark., Mrs. Luella COOK of Macon, Mo., Claude of Denver, Colo., I. W. and Mrs. Winnie ROBERTS of this county.
Owing to the very serious condition of Mrs. DYER, short private funeral services were held at the home this afternoon at one o'clock conducted by Rev. Osborn and interment was made in the Richwoods cemetery.
