JAMES B. DUNCAN DIED EARLY TODAY

James Baldwin DUNCAN, aged 89 years passed away at his home on North Court street this morning at 11:45 o'clock. He was born in Bethlehem, nd., (sic) March 4, 1832.

No funeral arrangements have been made.

FUNERAL FOR JAMES B. DUNCAN FRIDAY

James Baldwin DUNCAN, son of Preston and Margaret DUNCAN, was born near Bethlehem, Indiana, March 4th, 1852 (sic - 1832), and died here August 8th, 1921, aged 89 years, 5 months and 4 days.

He came with his parents, brothers, and sisters to Iowa in 1851, or 70 years ago and settled in this county in the neighborhood of Libertyville, and had made this county his home ever since, living about 15 years near Libertyville, 50 near Richwoods, and the past five years here in Fairfield.

On May 3rd, 1855 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth GIFT and to this union were born 4 children, Harlan, Frank, Catherine and Preston. Mrs. DUNCAN departed this life April 25th 1900, and Harlan at Lincoln, Nebr., November 4th, 1911. The living children reside, Frank and Catherine here and Preston at Sheridan, Wyoming.

Besides these children he leaves two brothers, John C or Orting, Washington, and Alex DUNCAN of Topeka, Kansas, also ten grandchildren, ten great-grand children, and other relatives and many friends.

Mr. DUNCAN had seen many changes in Jefferson County during his seventy years of residence here, having helped survey for the C.B. and Q. railroa (sic) through the county.

He united with the Methodist Episcopal church in young manhood and had been a life long Christian.

The funeral services will be held from the Methodist Church Friday at 2 o'clock and the burial will be in Richwoods cemetery.

... Quite a number from our community attended the funeral of Mr. DUNCAN Friday at Fairfield. Mr. DUNCAN was a good, honest and conscientious man and his friends were legion. It can be truly said that a good man has gone to his reward when Jim DUNCAN answered the last call.
