C. E. COCHRAN IS SUMMONED
Well Known Fairfield Resident Died Early This Morning

Charles E. (sic - C.) COCHRAN, well known Fairfield resident, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ben. MURPHY, three and one-half miles east of the city, at 3:30 o'clock this morning after an extended illness.

Mr. COCHRAN was born February 3, 1859, at Glasgow, Iowa. He has been in ill health for the past year. His wife preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Hoskins Funeral Home in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith of the First Methodist church, and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery (sic - Fairfield Abbey).

He is survived by the following children: Clarence, Fred, Theron, Mrs. Ben. MURPHY and Mrs. Guy McCormick of near Fairfield, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. J. H. ALLENDER of Birmingham, Mrs. W. E. CHANDLER and U. S. COCHRAN of this city. Also sixteen grandchildren.

COCHRAN RITES HELD MONDAY
Many Relatives, Friends Paid Last Respects At Services

Many relatives and friends paid their last respects to Charles E. COCHRAN at the services held yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Hoskins Funeral home.

Mr. COCHRAN passed away early Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ben MURPHY, after an extended illness.

The funeral services were in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith of the First Methodist church. the music was furnished by Mrs. L. W. Van Nostrand who sand "Going Down the Valley" and "Rock of Ages" accompanied on the piano by Miss Reva Patten.

Pallbearers were Robb McWhirter, Will McWhirter, Harlan Johnson Harley Hoopes, W. C. Smith and Raymond Charles. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

Out of town friends and relatives who attended the funeral were Mrs. Anna ALLENDER, son Vern and daughter Mae of Birmingham and Mr. and Mrs. John CAMPBELL of Stockport.

Note: Burial was originally in Fairfield Abbey, a mausoleum that stood on the grounds of Evergreen Cemetery. In 1968, after decay had set in, those interred there were moved to other locations. Charles and second wife Ada were moved to Upper Richwood Cemetery. First wife Anna was originally interred in Upper Richwood as she passed long before the Abbey was built.
