DIED.

BARGER--In Fairfield, Iowa, July 6th, 1879, of bilious gastric fever, Mr. Elias BARGER, aged 59 years, 1 month and 3 days.

Brother BARGER was well known in Fairfield and Jefferson county, and known only to be highly esteemed. He never sought public notoriety, but moved along in a quiet and orderly life. He was a man of sterling worth, true to his friends and kind to his family.-- Few men have enjoyed, in an equal degree, the confidence and esteem of those who knew him best. He was a devoted Christian, and member of the M. E. church. He loved his church with a constancy that knew no abatement. It was his delight to be found in the House of God. He entered upon the series of revival meetings now in progress with strong hopes of great good, little thinking he should join the heavenly throng who worship in God's paradise above before these meetings should close. But so it is -- we join in the songs of praise below, and he with the redeemed above.

J. Haynes.
