ALLENDER DIES LAST EVENING
Well known farmer, 76, had spent entire life in this county

William ALLENDER, well known Jefferson county farmer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl BATES, five miles northeast of Fairfield, at 9:30 o'clock last night. He had passed his 76th birthday last Saturday. Mr. ALLENDER had been in failing health for two years, and confined to his bed for eleven weeks following a stroke.

Mr. and Mrs. ALLENDER had resided for some time at the home of their daughter, Mrs. BATES. Born July 16, 1862, he had spent his entire life in Jefferson county.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Roy LAWRENCE of Spencer, Ia, Mrs. James O'MEARA of Des Moines, and Mrs. BATES. Also five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Hoskins Funeral Home in charge of Rev. W. B. Ireland. burial will be in Richwoods cemetery.

Prairie Chapel Friends Attend Funeral Services

PRAIRIE CHAPEL, July 22-- Many from this vicinity attended the funeral of William ALLENDER Thursday afternoon in Fairfield. He had been bedfast at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl BATES, for the past three months. Mr. ALLENDER's home was in the Richwood community but since his heath had failed he, with Mrs. ALLENDER, had made their home at the BATES home in this vicinity. …
