Death came early this morning to James Arthur PARSONS, 57, lifetime resident of Jefferson county.
He passed away at 1:55 a.m. at the Jefferson county hospital where he had been a patient since Saturday. He had been ill for the past week and serious the past three days. He suffered from a heart ailment.
Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home with the Rev. J. Roland Crandall officiating. Burial will be in the Union cemetery southeast of Fairfield. The Odd Fellows lodge will conduct services at the cemetery.
James Arthur PARSONS was born Jan. 2, 1904, on the home farm where he spent his entire life. It is located about six miles east of Fairfield on highway 34. He was the son of George B. and Mary Christine LIBLIN PARSONS. He was reared and educated in the Parsonsville community, a community named after his family.
PARSONS, who never married, was a member of the Methodist church, the IOOF lodge, and was a farmer all his life.
He is survived by three brothers and a sister: Floyd PARSONS, Crawfordsville, Iowa; Russell PARSONS, Richland; Norvell PARSONS, route 1, Fairfield; and Mrs. Maude TULLER, route 1, Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
