It was with sadness that the news of the death of Frank PARK was received by relatives here.
Frank Hamlin PARK was the second son of the late George N. and Sarah CHILCOTT PARK. He was born at Salina, Dec. 4, 1863. Here he grew to manhood and later clerked in a Fairfield store for some time where he was well known and made many friends by his pleasing personality and obliging ways. While still in young manhood he bade farewell to the scenes of his early boyhood days and emigrated to Colorado. His last visit back to Iowa was in 1912.
His parents passed away many years ago, as did also the following brothers and sisters, Scott, George, Alice McGuire, May PARSONS, Bertha DUNLAP and Anga PARSONS, leaving Mrs. Belle FRY of near Fairfield and Mrs. Osa FINNEY of Rochester, Minn., and the following niece and nephews Mrs. Helen BLOUGH, Hubert FRY, Rex PARSONS and Clifford DUNLAP and many friends.
He was a man to make friends and retain them, although he never married.
Frank's last illness was of short duration. Pneumonia was the direct cause of his death. He departed this life Dec. 8, 1939 at Tacoma, Washington.
Funeral services were held Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Piper funeral home in charge of Dr. Arthur Bell of St. Lukes Episcopal church. The songs were "The City Four Square" and "In the Garden." The many floral pieces expressed the esteem in which he was held by his many friends.
The body was cremated (it being his wish) and the urn containing the ashes will be tenderly laid away in the Union cemetery by the side of other loved ones.
