MRS. VIRGIL MAXWELL'S RITES
The last rites for Mrs. Virgil MAXWELL were held Saturday afternoon at 2 oclock. Short services consisting of prayer and scripture reading were held at the home as their little son had been stricken with inflammatory rheumatism being bedfast and unable to move. The funeral cortege then drove to Lockridge, the Baptist church being filled with sorrowing friends and neighbors, all anxious to pay their last respects to one whom they had loved in life. The casket attendants were Raymond and Frank Murphy, Victor and Edward Johnson, Elmer and John Sharpe. The songs were: "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Going Down the Valley" with Mrs. Marshal Sharpe at the Piano. The singers were: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mackey, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Linn. The minister Rev. J. A. Cochran took his text from First Corinthians, second chapter, ninth and tenth verses, and spoke comforting words to the bereaved ones.
The last services at the grave beautifully lined by loved hands were held in the Union cemetery.

A TRIBUTE TO MRS. VIRGIL MAXWELL
To those of us who have been given the privilege and pleasure of knowing Mrs. MAXWELL or Anna as we all knew her in her early girlhood days it seems almost incredible that she should be taken from us. Such characters as hers are the exception rather than the rule. Anna ALLERDICE being on only idolized daughter of Mrs. E. ALLERDICE, with three brothers in the home petted and humored yet she was neither vain or spoilt. Always quiet in her tastes, even in temper, cheerful with a brightness that was as warming as the June sunshine and those who came in contact with her, learned the beauty of character and sweetness of soul that was hers. And then on down in her married life she was always the same. Her death is especially sad as her sickness was but of three days duration. Only on Sunday she had entertained company for dinner, being as well as usual but Wednesday night and angel (sic) wafted her sweet young spirit heavenward.
Seemingly as if she was snatched away, leaving a loved husband, heartbroken, two sweet little children Kenneth aged 10 and Wanda aged 6, motherless and a dead aged mother, whose words are "Oh! why did not the Lord take me instead of Anna" and three brothers, scores of friends and relatives.
Such a dear one can not be given up without profound sorrow, but to have come into contact with her life has been a blessing and those of us who have will be better men and women for it. She has left the world a loving memory, and to her dear ones all sympathy to be given. We grieve with them in their sorrow but our prayer is that they may be comforted in the knowledge that she is at rest that she has gone to the reward that is so surely hers and that it will be but a short time till we meet again.
A FRIEND.
