Editors Ledger:--Jerry LAMBERT, a man well known in the county, died Saturday morning, March 26th. Death came while he was dressing himself. His wife, who had been about her morning's work, found him dead by the bedside. Mr. LAMBERT was born in Tennessee, as near as he could determine, sixty-eight years ago, and when but a boy was taken by his master to Arkansas. He always took pride in the reflection that he had rendered conscientious service while a bond servant, and that he maintained the confidence of his different masters to such a degree that he never was subjected to the whip. During the war the unsettled times in Arkansas presented the opportunity of escaping to Helena, where he attached himself to the Fourth Iowa cavalry, and his cheerful, obliging disposition made him the friend of almost every man in the regiment. Pleasant, with whom he lived a happy life of more than thirty years, and who lives to mourn the loss of her husband. Mr. LAMBERT was a member of the Free Methodist church, and in all the relation of life evidenced the sincerity of his religious profession. Rev. John Lute preached the funeral sermon at the Parsonsville church, and notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather Sunday afternoon, the church was filled with friends of the deceased, who thus showed their respect to their long time neighbor. …

Pleasant, with whom he lived a happy life of more than thirty years. Mr. LAMBERT was an earnest, conscientious, religious man, esteemed by all who knew him. Rev. John Lute preached the funeral sermon at Parsonsville, and notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather Sunday afternoon, the house was filled with friends, who thus showed the esteem in which the deceased had been held.
