Packwood

Jean MARSHALL, 87, of Washington, formerly of Packwood, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Halcyon House in Washington (note: in Washington Co., IA). Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the Packwood Christian Church with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Calling hours will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the churchwhere (sic) the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will take place at Packwood Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Halcyon House or Packwood Christian Church. Online condolences may be sent for Jean's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Jean was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Jefferson County, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Iva (RAMSEY) MERCER. She attended school in Packwood and graduated from Packwood High School. On Oct. 26, 1949, Jean was united in marriage to Deane MARSHALL in Packwood.

Jean was a lifelong resident of Packwood, where she and her husband owned and operated the Marshall Locker for over 40 years. She was a member of the Packwood Christian Church and Packwood T.T.T.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Mary SASSEEN and husband John of Spring, Texas; daughter, Barbara LANKFORD and husband Rick of Tulsa, Okla.; son, John MARSHALL and wife Chris of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren, Carrie PRIME and husband Peter of Spring, Texas, Katrina DINWIDDIE and husband Shawn of Austin, Texas, Dana MARSHALL of North Liberty, Daniel MARSHALL and wife Rachel of Mount Pleasant, David LANKFORD of Tulsa and Erin LANKFORD of Tulsa; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary HUDDLESTON of Burlington; and one sister-in-law, Helen MERCER.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2010, two sisters and five brothers.
