HICKENBOTTOM RITES FRIDAY

Death came Tuesday afternoon to a well known retired farmer who lived his entire life in Jefferson county.

He is Perry HICKENBOTTOM, 81, who passed away at 3:15 p.m. yesterday at his farm home eight miles east of Fairfield. He had been in failing health for the past four years.

Last rites will be held at the Hoskins funeral home Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Weston and Rev. Wayne Davis in charge. Burial will be in Union cemetery.

HICKENBOTTOM, a retired farmer, had an alert mind and kept abreast of the changing times despite his advanced age and the fact he has been an invalid for some time. He kept his mind busy inventing gadgets which would make it easier for others to take care of him and other gadgets suitable for use about the home.

Perry HICKENBOTTOM was born July 18, 1869, at Parsonsville in Jefferson county, the son of the late Joseph and Louise MONSON HICKENBOTTOM.

He was united in marriage on January 1, 1891, to Rosabelle PARSONS who passed away May 20 (sic - 21st), 1920. After the death of his first wife he was united in marriage on December 29, 1928, to Emma MOXLEY of Mt. Pleasant who survives.

HICKENBOTTOM spent his entire life in Jefferson county and was a member of the Parsonsville Methodist church.

He is survived by the following children: Chester, Batavia; Clarence, Fairfield; Mrs. Mary Louise BROSTROM, Galesburg, Illinois; Joe, Fairfield; and Mrs. Ada GRABER, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

He is also survived by five step children, 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ma_____ (Marshall?) MILLER who died January 1, 1941.
