FairfieldOur beloved brother, uncle and friend, Tom WINQUIST, passed away Aug. 23, 2019, in Laramie, Wyo. He had traveled there to be closer to the Western mountains he cherished, where he had frequently camped and explored. His long time friend, John Cogdon, was with him. He is at peace after a extended, uncomfortable illness.
Tom was involved with the TM movement from the very beginning and was a resident of Fairfield since the founding of Maharishi's university.
He loved to roam the country, especially the western wilderness areas, in one of his many vans which were his second homes. He also traveled extensively in Asia and Europe. He worked for many years with his brother, Robert, in TM education, and later in a furniture importing business. The business that he started from scratch was for a time the largest importer of oriental furniture in North America. Tom was a thoughtful person who always tried to understand the ways of the world and reconcile them with his deeply held Vedic beliefs.
He loved his family leaving behind two brothers and six nieces and nephews.
