Vena Edith Speer, 95, formerly of Rapids City, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 1994 at Aspenwood Health Care Center, Silvis (IL).
Services are 11a.m. Wednesday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial is in Rapids City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 6 P.M. Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established.
The former Vena Edith Winslow was born March 13, 1898, in Birmingham, Iowa, the daughter of Elgar and Sarah Troette Winslow. She married Irvin Speer Feb 20, 1918 in Birmingham. He died Oct. 11, 1966.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Krueger, Westminster, Colo; sons, Max Speer, Effie, Minnesota, Merle Speer, Davenport, Roger Speer, Silvis, and Donald Speer, Port Byron; 31 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildren Ireland, Grand Junction, Colo; and a brother, Ned Winslow, Fairfield, IowaFuneral held 1-5-1994 at First United Methodist Church by Rev. Donald Riley.
