SPEER Services

RAPIDS CITY -- Services will be at 11 Saturday morning in the Dailey Mortuary, Port Byron, for Ivan M. SPEAR (sic - Irvin M. SPEER), 73, of 1536 2nd Ave., who died Tuesday night in Moline Public Hospital.

The Rev. Gary Finley, pastor of the Rapids City Christian Church, will officiate, and burial will be in the Rapids City Cemetery.

Friends may call after 3:30 tomorrow afternoon at the funeral home.

Mr. SPEAR (sic) was born in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Rosa PATTERSON SPEAR (sic - PATTISON SPEER).

He married Vena WINSLOW Feb. 20, 1918, in Birmingham, Iowa.

Before retiring, he was employed by the John Deere Planter Works, Moline.

Survivors include the widow; five sons, Max of Minneapolis; Mearle of Davenport; Donald of Port Byron; Gerald of East Moline, and Roger of Silvis; one daughter, Mrs. Doris KRUEGER, Denver, Colo; one brother, Floyd, and two sisters, Mrs. Edith GRISSON (sic - GRISSOM) and Mrs. Mabel DROD (sic - DROZ), all of Fairfield, 30 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Irvin SPEER, 71, Dies In Illinois

Irvin SPEER, 71, former local resident, died Tuesday in Rapids City, Ill., following an extended illness. Funeral services are planned Friday at 11 a.m. in Port Byron, Ill.

SPEER was employed by the John Deere Company in Rock Island, Ill. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew SPEER, he was born and reared in Jefferson County.

Surviving are his wife, the former Vena WINSLOW of Jefferson County, and six children. Other survivors include two sisters and a brother, Mrs. L. C. DROZ, Mrs. Edith GRISSOM, and Floyd SPEER, all of Fairfield. One brother preceded him in death.
