Page 3, col. 6.DEATH OF JOHN SNOOK. The death of John Snook, a gentleman well known and highly respected throughout Jefferson County, occurred at his home in the southeastern part of the city on Wednesday evening.....Mr. Snook was born in Beaver County, Penn., July 9th 1818. As a child he removed with his father’s family, to Ashland, Ohio, where he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Mary Fowler, who survives him. In 1841 Mr. and Mrs. Snook came to Iowa and in the spring of the following year to Jefferson County, which has since been their home. Twelve children were born to them. Of eight now living, all reside in this county but three–Justin Snook of Wood Lake, Neb., Mrs. Joseph Young of Wymore, Neb., and Rev. E. M. Snook of Allerton–and all were present at the funeral with the exception of one son.....Presbyterian Church.....
