Cecil Irene CHUCK, 102, of Brighton, was born November 24, 1916 on her family's farm in Brighton, Iowa, the daughter of John W. and Hattie E. JONES.

She graduated from High School in Brighton and attended college in Pasadena, California. Following high school, she worked for American Airlines as a teletype operator, secretary to Judge Edmundson, worked for the Washington County Recorder's Office, Washington County Journal and the election board. She and her husband Norbert both owned and operated Chuck's DX bulk Oil Company. Cecil married Sgt. George "Bud" WALKER in Kansas City. After his passing, Cecil returned to her hometown of Brighton, IA and married Norbert Leo "NL" (Mim) CHUCK in St. Joseph Church February 18, 1954 and he died May 30, 1991.

Cecil was a devoted Christian and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. During her younger years, Cecil was actively involved and served as a member of the Bridge Club, Synod Community, Altar and Rosary, Lions Club, Mary Moderns and Women's Military Auxiliary. She was a published writer, poet and local column writer of Chit Chat and Chuckles.

Cecil loved children, especially her own grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In her younger years, she also loved traveling, writing, sewing her daughter's clothes, embroidery, photography, playing the piano and baking. Cecil especially enjoyed baking diabetic goodies to ensure anyone suffering with diabetes was included.

Left to cherish her loving memory are daughters: Stephany (Teppy) SCHADT, Brighton, IA, Petra WELTER (Jeff), Urbandale, IA; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Kenny) McCOY, Natalia (Terry) THILGES, Nathaniel (Robin) SCHADT and Tiffany (Aaron) MANN, and great grandchildren: Kameron, Anndra, Khloe and Gracen McCOY, Madison and Hudson THILGES, Emma, Tessa, Lili and Declan SCHADT, and Kanin MANN; and great-great-grandson Khristian and awaiting arrival of great-great granddaughter Khori and one sister, Adela WELLS.

Cecil is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Cleo ROBERTSON, brother Dale JONES, son-in-law Rodney SCHADT, grandson Johnathon SCHADT, and great-granddaughter Rashidi, and other infant great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 12, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with Rev. Damian Ilokaba officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Prayers for a Christian Wake and a Rosary will also be held at the church beginning at 6 P.M. Thursday evening followed by visitation until 7:30 P.M. Memorials may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 307 South Benton Street, Brighton, Iowa 52540. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
