Nancy L. ENGWALL, 87, of rural Fairfield passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at her home.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.

Nancy L. ENGWALL, 87, of rural Fairfield passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at her home.

Nancy was born on April 29, 1932, in Fairfield the daughter of George & Vera McCLEARY ZILLMAN. She was united in marriage to Paul L. ENGWALL on March 6, 1955, in Fairfield, he preceded her in death on July 26, 2016. Nancy started her career in nursing while her husband was stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan, when he was honorable (sic) discharged from the service they moved back to Fairfield and she started at the Jefferson County Hospital on November 1, 1958 and retired on April 29, 1994. Nancy was very involved in cancer classes for the patients at Jefferson County Hospital (I Can Cope).

After her retirement she helped her husband on the family farm, enjoyed working in her flower beds and volunteered for SHIP. Nancy was a member of the Word of Life Lutheran Church in Fairfield and TTT Society.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Kim) ENGWALL of Thousand Oaks, California, and Jeff (Rachel) ENGWALL of Fairfield; three grandchildren Justin (Christine) ENGWALL Ryan ENGWALL and Alison ENGWALL, and one sister, Margaret (Mike) McCREEDY of Conroe, Texas.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Joan JOHNSON and Mary ARCHIBALD.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Word of Life Lutheran Church in Fairfield with Rev. John Myer officiating. Burial will be in the New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery rural Lockridge. The family will receive friends on Sunday June 23, 2019, at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Word of Life Lutheran Church or the Jefferson County Health Center Foundation in her memory.
