Murl R. Carr, 81, of Cantril, died at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Catie Newman and the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery in Douds.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials can be made to Cantril United Methodist Church or Cantril Public Library. Memorials can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 54, Cantril, Iowa, 52542.

Mr. Carr was born Sept. 6, 1923, near Libertyville, the son of Robert S. and Minnie Evans Carr. He married Madelyn Elsensohn Nov. 8, 1942, in Memphis, Mo.

He graduated from Douds High School and farmed for 37 years in the Douds area. He also drove a milk truck, worked at Buckles Standard Station and was manager of Burdman Auto Parts, both in Keosauqua and Minnesota. He worked part-time at Orscheln's Farm Supply in Fairfield. He retired in 1991 and moved to Cantril.

Mr. Carr was a member of Cantril United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jerry Carr of Madelia, Minn.; one daughter, Jane Ann Graf and husband Richard of Bloomfield; one sister, Eloise Poos of Memphis, Mo.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Judith Kay Carr; and two brothers, Orville Carr and Leonard Carr in infancy.
