April 11, 2005Ruth Agnes Billingsley Tracht, 98, of Fairfield, died April 9, 2005, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Mike Metz officiating.
Family visitation will be held 1:30 to 2 p.m. before the services Tuesday.
The body will be cremated.
Memorials can be made to Education Foundation of Fairfield Public School, Inc. or the Lord's Cupboard or First United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at www.behnerfh.com.
She was born Dec. 19, 1906, on the family farm near Glasgow, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Belle Bower Billingsley. On Aug. 18, 1937, she married Clarence Otis Tracht in Corydon, Iowa. He passed away in 1997.
At six months of age the young family moved to a ranch near Glasgow, Mont., living there until 1912, when the family moved back to the family farm near Glasgow, Iowa. Ruth graduated from Fairfield High School in 1924. She attended Parsons College summer school and obtained her teaching certificate.
Ruth taught Country School in Lockridge Township, Round Prairie Township and Glasgow No. 2 for 12 years. They farmed in Cedar Township until 1974, whey sold the farms and moved into Fairfield.
Ruth was a member of the Glasgow Methodist Church and joined the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.
She was a member of the Thursday card club in Cedar Township and belonged to several Bridge clubs. Ruth spent 10 years with travel clubs touring the U.S. and Europe.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Fickel of Indianola, Iowa; one brother, Roy Billingsley and wife Kathleen of Lockridge, Iowa; many close nieces and nephews, Dorothy and Pete Crawford of Houston, Texas, Marilyn and Dick Korseberg of Washburn, Wis., Don and Esther Fickel of Fairfield, Mary Sue Fickel of Indianola, Iowa, Jennifer and Nelson Anderson of Lockridge, Iowa, and Lisa and John Reindl of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two nieces, Lola Belle Ranard and Diane Billingsley Anderson; and one nephew, Robert Fickel.
