Gene William Evans, 75, of 604 W. Jefferson Ave., died Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2005, at his home.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Cemetery northwest of Hedrick, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating.

Family visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be to the donor's choice.

Mr. Evans was born July 27, 1929, in rural Farson, the son of Eddie Flint and Mildred Cathleen Derby Evans. He married Martha Jeanette Fair. She later died.

He graduated from Farson High School. He owned and operated his own farm for 30 years before retirement. He lived in the Fairfield community since November 1991.

Survivors include his common- law wife Wanda Mae Bird of Fairfield; her children, Charles Bird of Fairfield, Joyce Frost of Middletown, R.I., and Judy Williams of Fairfield; and three brothers, Junior Evans and Everett Evans, both of Oskaloosa and Ernest Evans of Agency.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Evans.
