HE WAS A JEFFERSON PIONEER.....William Harper died at Woodville, Ore., July 2d.....He was in the 83d year of his age, and was born in Franklin Co., Ind. Came to this county in 1852, with a brother, Robert Harper, of this city, and resided in this vicinity continuously until 1874, when he located in Jackson Co., Ore. His aged wife, now 80 years of age, survives him. They were the parents of two children. The son Stephen, was a soldier in Co. C, 30th Iowa Inf., and died shortly after the close of the Civil War. The daughter was the wife of Thomas Haymond, and died in Oregon several years ago.
