Death of Mrs. Robert HARPER.

The death of Mrs. Robert HARPER, who had been suffering from paralysis for the past few weeks, occured (sic) Wednesday evening of last week at seven o'clock. She had been enjoying splendid health until the twenty-sixth of November, when she was taken with a sudden, sharp pain in her head and neck, since which time she has been confined to her bed.

The deceased has been a resident of this city for twenty-two years, first coming to Jefferson county from Indiana in the fall of 1852 and locating in Cedar township. Since that time this county has been her home, with the exception of a few years, when, with her husband, she resided in Van Buren county. Mrs. HARPER was postmistress for a number of years during the war, at Wooster, this county. Her maiden name was Deborah R. JENKS and she was born in Franklin county, Indiana, October 19, 1831, and was married to Robert HARPER in Wabash county, Indiana, where she had moved with her parents, September 1, 1848. She was a woman of excellent character, a good wife and mother, and held in the highest esteem by her neighbors and friends. Mrs. HARPER was the mother of three children, only one of whom, W. O. HARPER, of this city, survives her. Of the others, Miss Theresa L. HARPER, who was known in this city, died in Oregon in 1873, and Frank E. died in childhood. To her husband is extended the sympathy of many friends.

The funeral was held at the house last Friday afternoon and the services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Boatman, of the Methodist church, of which she was a member, and Elder J. A. Raines
