Page 5, col. 6.B. F. Gudgell died Wednesday at the home of his sister, Mrs. H. H. Canaday, on Prairie Avenue in Ottumwa, aged 78 years. Was a pioneer resident of Fairfield.....Remains will be laid to rest in the Ottumwa cemetery. Deceased was born in the state of Kentucky July 2, 1835. Moved to Fairfield in 1859. Enlisted in the Third Iowa Cavalry, Co. F, and served four years in the war. After the war he again returned to Fairfield, where he has resided continuously ever since. Besides his wife, he leaves one brother and two sisters. They are R. J. Gudgell of Fairfield; Mrs. Lenora Sutliff, of Butte Valley, Calif., and Mrs. H. H. Canaday of Ottumwa.
