DoudsBeryl STINSON, 90, of Douds, Iowa passed away on March 10, 2019 at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, Iowa. She was born on April 22, 1928 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Ray and Nydia STRONG NIELSON. She married Robert STINSON on June 24, 1950 in Wheaton, Minnesota. Together Rob and Beryl raised two children, Laurie and Brian.
Beryl graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She taught third grade for 30 years, in Fairfield and also Fox Valley for a short time. Beryl loved to paint, she especially enjoyed the traditional Norwegian painting of Rosemaling. She enjoyed knitting and quilting. She made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. and knitted many tiny sweaters that were sent to children all over the country through Guidepost Magazine. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Laurie (Rick) SMITH of Douds, Iowa; a son, Brian (Kathleen) STINSON of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew STINSON of Seattle, Washington, Colin SMITH of Fairfield, Iowa, Cameron SMITH of Boston, Massachusetts, Caillen SMITH of Stafford, Virginia; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister, Lois NIELSON.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. Online condolences may be directed to www.pedrickfuneralhome.com.
