Des Moines, IA

Wilma Elaine DAVIS, 79, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on January 19, 2019 at Ramsey Village Care Center in Des Moines (note: in Polk Co., IA). She was born June 8, 1939 in Selma, Iowa to Paul Lloyd and Minnie GOEHRING WINSELL. She married Ernest DAVIS on June 18, 1959 in Lebanon, Iowa.

Wilma earned a Bachelor's of Science (sic) in Nursing from Grandview College and was part of the first graduating class for Grandview's Nursing Program in 1978. She worked as an RN for over 25 years at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, retiring in 1995. She loved being a nurse and was always proud to be part of the inaugural nursing class at Grandview. While not working she enjoyed doing various crafts, sewing, and knitting. She also enjoyed baking and traveling.

She is survived by her son, Elton DAVIS of Grimes, Iowa; two granddaughters, Alysha DAVIS, Havah FRANK; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Josiah, Alaina, Anya; three sisters, Lila (Kenneth) WELLS of Douds, Iowa, Phyllis (John) CONNELLY of Solon, Iowa, Midge (Jim) ARNOLD of Oelwein, Iowa; and a brother, Bill (Deb) WINSELL of Ridgeway, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Doris WINSELL.

Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Pedrick Funeral Home - Douds. Pastor Phil Campbell will officiate. Burial will be at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Douds (note: in Van Buren Co., IA). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
