DEATH CLAIMS E. H. MONFORT

Edward H. Monfort, 84, native of Jefferson county, passed away about 1 p.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Hickenbottom, who resides southeast of Fairfield. He had been in failing health for the past 3 1/2 years.

Last rites will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Edward H. Monfort was born Aug. 4, 1868, in Fairfield, the son of the late Peter C. and Nancy Harbert Monfort. He was united in marriage on Sept. 28, 1892, to Ellen Mahon who survives. The wedding took place in Cedar township. He was a member of the Congregational church.

Besides his wife, Monfort is survived by the following children: Leonard Monfort, Lockridge, Harbert Monfort, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Clarence Hickenbottom, Fairfield.

He is also survived by four grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and a brother, Perry H. Monfort, Fairfield.
