Seneca, SCDawn M MEYERS, age 90, passed away peacefully at the Ila Doyle Nursing facility under care of Hospice of the Foothills December 12, 2018 in Seneca, South Carolina.
Born in Yorkshire England on Oct. 15, 1928. She moved with her parents to Western Canada as a child. Dawn started teaching school at age 17 and did most of her teaching in the Eskimo villages above the Arctic Circle. Her love of Arabian Horses led her to Iowa where she married Joseph "Jay" MEYERS of Fairfield in 1966. They lived the next forty years in Fairfield, Farmington and Croton, Iowa areas.
After her husband died in 2006 Dawn moved to Seneca, South Carolina to be near her son Dr. Jayme MEYERS and his family.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents a brother and her husband. She is survived by her sister Barbara "Babs" BINNINGER of Canada, her son Dr. Jaymi MEYERS (Lindsay) grandson Khy MEYERS and step grandson Zade SIMPSON of Seneca, South Carolina. Step daughter Melanie LISK {Gene}, Step sons; Terry MEYERS (Edith), Ronald MEYERS(Jeri), Steve MEYERS (Jeanne) of Fairfield, Iowa, Robert MEYERS (Kristi) of Ottumwa, Iowa, Jeff MEYERS (Carol) of Packwood, Iowa and Kim MEYERS of Gig Harbor, Washington. Also several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren.
Always interested in avoiding chemicals and preserving nature, Dawn elected to have a "Green Burial" at Ramsey Creek Preserve in Westminster South Carolina.
Throughout her eight years in assisted living at the Residence's at Park Place in Seneca, Dawn organized fund raisers for more than a dozen local charities. She never wanted to draw attention to herself and requested that no memorial service be held. Anyone wishing to honor her memory, please follow her example and do something for someone in need.
