Glasgow, IA

Melvin Wayne Luke Sr., 89 of Glasgow, IA, passed away at home on Sunday, October 7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

There will be a celebration of life service held at the Fairfield VFW on November 3, 2018 with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be mailed to 2538 Unicorn Ave., Fairfield IA 52556.

Melvin was born in Douds, IA June 16, 1940 to Elmer and Rosie LUKE. He married Karen PRUDEN on October 18, 1957. He and Karen had five children Melvin, Jr, Gilbert, John, Barbara, and Tammy. They were married 61 years.

Melvin worked at Universal factory, assisted building Parson's college (sic), mowing cemeteries, and retired after 41 years from Dexter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and spending time with family.

Left to share Melvin's memories are his wife, Karen, and their children, Melvin Jr. (Kathryn) of Ollie, IA, Gilbert (Susan) of Ollie, IA, John (Donnetta) of Bonifay, FL, Barbara (Bob) Richland, IA, and Tammy of Council Bluffs, IA. His sisters, Cleone (Victor) of Indiana, Lydia (Bill) of South Carolina, Minnie of Alabama and sister-in-law, Fay of Fairfield. Also 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Sr., Gene, Junior; sisters, Ida, Judy, Dorothy, and one grandson, Jeffery.
