JOHN DRISH, 77, IS VICTIM OF HEART AILMENT
Body of Pleasant Plain man found in creek by searchers

Heart disease is believed to have caused the sudden death of John DRISH, 77, well-known Jefferson county farmer whose body was found in Middle Walnut creek about dark Friday by a party of searchers called out after he had been missing since Thursday afternoon.

Dr. J. W. Castell of Fairfield, county coroner, said this morning that a partial autopsy performed last night revealed Mr. DRISH evidently died from natural causes. There was no water in his lungs, indicating that he first succumbed to the heart ailment and probably then toppled into the creek where he had gone to fish.

Mr. DRISH, very well-known in the Pleasant Plain vicinity, told his family he was going fishing about Thursday noon. He started down the road but the neighbors picked him up and he decided to ride to Fairfield with them.

On returning they let him out of the car near the creek at about 3:30 p.m. That was the last time he was seen alive.

When he failed to return Thursday evening it was believed he possibly was spending the night in town or with the neighbors.

Late Friday afternoon, however, his family became alarmed and a searching party was organized. He was found just before dark.

Sheriff Herbert Goodale, who accompanied Dr. Cartell (sic), said the body was in about two or three feet of water, slightly submerged and somewhat entangled in brush. The site is about two and one-half miles south of East Pleasant Plain and approximately 200 yards from the highway.

Mr. DRISH's hat, fishing pole and bucket were found on the creek bank. It was reported passing neighbors had noticed the articles but did not think anyone was around.

Coroner Castell declared he believed death came probably sometime Thursday evening. Mr. DRISH was very well known about his community and had many friends.
