Lockridge man dies

LOCKRIDGE -- George M. JOHNSON, 85, of Lockridge, died Sunday at 2:10 a.m. in Pleasant Manor Care Center, Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA), where he had resided the past six years.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Joseph Ricks officiating. Burial will be in New Sweden Methodist Cemetery west of Four Corners. Friends may call as they desire at the funeral home.

JOHNSON was born May 24, 1895 at Lockridge, the son of Nichols (sic) and Amanda PEARSON JOHNSON. He never married. He was a member of New Sweden Methodist Church and served in the Army in WWI.

Surviving are two sisters, Esther TURNER of Burlington, Ellen BOOS of Ottumwa, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
