MRS. S. CLINE DIED YESTERDAY
Passes Away At County Home Following Long Illness

Mrs. Sarah FLEENER CLINE, ninety-two years of age and the last survivor of the parents of civil war veterans in Jefferson county, passed away at the Jefferson county home at 3 oclock yesterday afternoon following an illness of several years' duration. Although Mrs. CLINE's condition did not become serious until the past few weeks, she has been a constant sufferer for several years and since July 18 has been confined to her bed. Over a year ago she suffered a broken hip from which she never recovered. About a year ago she was taken to the Jefferson county hospital for treatment and was later removed to the county home.

Mrs. CLINE was born on July 26, 1830. The greater part of her life was spent at Abingdon. Early in her life she was married to Mr. FLEENER (sic - John FLEENER) who died many years ago. Later she was married to Henry (sic - James Henry) CLINE who has also preceded her in death. Mrs. CLINE was the mother of ten children, four of whom are now living. They are Dr. James FLEENER of Oskaloosa, Elza and Milton FLEENER of Ottumwa and George FLEENER of Keesburg, Illinois. A son Ralph who preceded his mother in death, was a veteran of the civil war, having served throughout that conflict.

Mrs. CLINE was a woman of sterling character. Her every act was kindness, and she was a friend of all who knew her. During her residence at the County Home, where she was known as "Aunt Sally," she won the affection of everyone there. She was visited often by friends, especially during her late illness. She was a woman of christian faith, having been a member of the Christian church at Abingdon.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 oclock from the Christian church at Abingdon, with burial in the Abingdon cemetery.

LAST SURVIVING CIVIL WAR MOTHER IN COUNTY DEAD

"Aunt Sally" CLINE, as she was affectionately known, the last surviving mother in this county of a Civil war veteran, died Tuesday afternoon at the county home. She was about ninety-four years of age (sic - 92).

Mrs. CLINE went to the county home about a year ago from Abingdon. She was universally loved about her home and there were many from that part of the county who frequently went to see her at the county home.

She was twice married (sic - three times) and was the mother of ten children. There were five sons by her first husband, Mr. FLEENOR. One of these, Ralph FLEENOR, was a Civil war veteran and died some years ago. Dr. James FLEENOR, of Oskaloosa, Elza and Milton FLEENOR of Ottumwa, and George FLEENOR of Keithsburg, Ill., are the other four.
