RICHLAND, Ia. -- John Paul KASKA, 85, Richland, passed away Sunday evening at the Twilight Rest home in Keota (note: in Keokuk Co., IA).
He and Mrs. KASKA both moved into the rest home two weeks ago. A few days after his arrival there he suffered a stroke from which he never recovered.
Last rites will be Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic church in Keota, with the Rev. C. S. Kempker officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery at East Pleasant Plain (sic - St. Joseph's Cemetery). The Rosary will be recited at the Powell funeral home in Keota at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
J. P. KASKA was born Pleasant Plain in Jefferson county on May 17, 1875. He was united in marriage in December, 1905, to Cecelia LISK. She passed away in 1944.
On AApril (sic) 9, 1949, he was married to Mary TSCHANN, who survives. They made their home at Richland until entering the rest home at Keota recently.
In addition to his wife, KASKA is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Magdaline KESSEL, Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Lorene BIEWEN, Des Moines; Mrs. Christine STANFORD, Colorado Springs, Col.; Vernard KASKA, Colorado Springs; and Adrine KASKA, Keota. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret KASKA, Des Moines, and a brother, Frank KASKA, East Pleasant Plain.
He was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter.
