Richland, IA

Konnie Kae HARTNELL, 75, of Richland, died Friday August 10, 2018, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield. She was born February 16, 1943, in Fairfield, the daughter of Kermit and Joannan BOND WARD. She grew up in Richland and graduated from Richland High School in 1961 and attended the Burlington School of Business. Konnie married Jerry HARTNELL September 17, 1967, in Richland. She worked in the Admissions Department of Parsons College in Fairfield, the Rubio Post Office and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rubio Ladies Club, Richland Book Club, Keokuk County Historical Society, the Red Hat Ladies, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Richland American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered at the VA Hospital and at Pekin Community Schools. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, crafting, reading, outdoors, walking, tending many flower beds and loved mini-vacations across the United States. She was a member of the First Church of God in Brighton. She is survived by her husband Jerry of Richland, one daughter Terri Jo NICHOLLS and her husband Jason of South Bend, Indiana and one son Todd of Ames, Iowa, four grandchildren, Hannah, Nathanael, Levi, Ethan (Buster) NICHOLLS and one brother Ronnie WARD and his wife Janet of Sigourney. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday August 13, 2018, at the Brighton First Church of God in Brighton with Pastor Rick Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Richland Friends Cemetery (note: in Keokuk Co., IA). Visitation with the family will be 4 to 6 P.M. at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland. Memorials to the Richland Friends Cemetery or to the American Lung Association may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 3054 Ash Avenue, Richland, Iowa 52585.
