John FRITZ, Brighton, dies at 57

BRIGHTON -- John W. FRITZ, 57, died Friday at his home southeast of Brighton.

A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church with the Revs. Robert Busher, Robert Harness and Richard Pacha officiating. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established to St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Heart Association.

FRITZ was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Jefferson County, the son of Michael and Gertrude ARNDT FRITZ. He married Joann FEDLER on Sept. 13, 1958, in Fort Madison.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Fairfield, Disabled American Veterans in Ottumwa and St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. FRITZ was a veteran of the Korean conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart.

FRITZ was a lifelong Jefferson County farmer and a longtime Funk Seed and Vigortone dealer.

In addition to his wife, FRITZ is survived by one daughter, Sandra FRITZ of Irving, Texas; four brothers, Robert, Sylvester and Walter, all of Brighton, and Cletus of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and three sisters, Alice REDLINGER and Marian REDLINGER, both of Harper, and Loretta SCHNEIDER of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
