The last rites for Jacob FRITZ, of Burlington, a former resident of East Pleasant Plain, were held this morning at 9:30 oclock from St. Joseph's Catholic church at East Pleasant Plain with burial in the cemetery nearby.
Mr. FRITZ, who is well known in the city as he has spent some time at the William Berg and Joseph Kessel homes, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Francis hospital in Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA) where he had been a patient for the past year. He was born at Germanville, Iowa, June 2, 1860. He went from East Pleasant Plain to Burlington 26 years ago and later lived in Mt. Pleasant for several years. He was married to Miss Elizabeth KURTZ of East Pleasant Plain and she survives. Three daughters have preceded him in death. He leaves the following children: Mrs. James ALLISON and Mrs. Alfred SCHMIDT of Burlington, Mrs. Charles MOHLER, Bernard FRITZ and Phillip FRITZ of West Burlington, Mrs. George BOHLKEN of Flint, Mich., and Sister Mary BENEDICT (Cecilia FRITZ) of Ottumwa. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Barbara SHIPPERT of Burlington and Mrs. Christina SCHMIDT of Mt. Pleasant and 17 grandchildren.
